Qatar secures more long-term regas ahead of giant liquefaction expansion
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Qatar Petroleum (QP) have secured a significant amount of long-term regas capacity at the Zeebrugge terminal in Belgium, boosting their share of Northwest European regas capacity to 27% of the total by 2024. Starting when its current long-term agreement expires in 2023, QP’s new contract will extend to 2044 and covers all available capacity at the terminal. The aim of the deal is to ensure QP has a backstop for the large increase in volumes of LNG it will produce as its liquefaction capacity increases over the next 10 years. This deal may now reduce the need for QP to take additional regas capacity at one of the proposed German regas terminals.
