Between May and June, most of the countries started relaxing restrictions imposed to mitigate pandemic effects. As a result, a modest demand recovery process has started in Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil. The winter will play a key role in the upcoming months: on the one hand, the cold boosts both gas and power demand for heating, especially in Argentina and Chile. The last weeks were full of regulatory activity in the Southern Cone countries, as authorities need to address the effects of reduction in income and investments. See this report for more details of these research questions: •How coronavirus impacted gas and electricity consumption in May and June? •What regulatory changes authorities are developing to tackle the pandemic effects? •What is the expected recovery of demand in the four countries in the following months? •How gas flows between countries will evolve given this new scenario of production and demand? •What are the future power marginal costs in Brazil and Chile?
