Last winter, China imported a record 22 Mt of LNG, with average regas utilisation in January peaking at 98%. And yet the country saw many gas shortages while unregulated domestic prices for LNG skyrocketed in excess of US$20/mmbtu. So, what about this winter – will there be shortages again and just how much LNG will China need to import?
