On June 21 2013 at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, NOVATEK and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) announced a framework of cooperation under which CNPC will acquire a 20% stake in Yamal LNG and purchase at least 3 million tons per annum (mmtpa) of LNG from the project.
