Commodity Market Report
Global gas & LNG weekly summary: 18 April 2024
Report summary
May TTF prices continued their upward momentum, surpassing the $10 threshold to settle at $10.44/mmbtu. The window for arbitrage to Northeast Asia closed and price differentials no longer incentivise cross-basin flow. Fundamentals have taken a backseat to short-term geopolitical instability. A large-scale attack on Ukrainian gas infrastructure and uncertainty in Norwegian maintenance on fields such as Dvalin and Nhyamna weighed greater in players' minds in the short term as a more potent driver.
