Commodity Market Report
Global gas & LNG weekly summary: 22 Feb 2024
Report summary
This reporting week, March TTF prices declined to $7.6/mmbtu. European gas prices remain at the bottom of the coal-to-gas switching range – which has shifted down in recent months with the collapse in carbon prices. This is incentivising gas demand in the European power sector. Northeast Asian LNG prices followed a similar trend this week, softening to $8.3/mmbtu for April delivery. The spread between Northeast Asia and European LNG DES prices narrowed slightly but remained supportive of cross-basin flows on modern ships.
