Commodity Market Report
Global gas & LNG weekly summary: 29 July 2022
Report summary
TTF and Northeast Asia prices soar on Russian supply cuts, fearing more are to come European and Northeast Asian natural gas prices soared this week as Russian gas flows to Europe via Nord Stream were halved to 33 mcm/d. The rally accelerated when a dangerous increase in gas pressure at the Russia-Ukraine border was reported by Ukraine's gas transmission operator on Tuesday, coupled with Gazprom’s rhetoric that one could argue lay the ground for them blaming sanctions for future cuts. In the past week, the company's social media posts are demanding that open issues pertaining to EU and UK sanctions get resolved, as they are allegedly impediments to proper maintenance and safety needed to keep the pipeline flowing.
