Commodity Market Report
LNG short-term outlook: January 2023
Report summary
While recent cold weather has accelerated withdrawals in Europe, the system remains awash with gas. European hub prices have softened to fundamental levels in search of a demand response through January. Regas competition has eased, triggering a price reconnect between TTF and LNG NW Europe DES. Asian LNG spot prices trade at a premium to European LNG, but demand has been slow to pick up amid a lack of liquidity. The strength of the demand response will dictate where prices settle through 2023.
