Report summary
When piped gas imports from Argentina were halted abruptly in the mid-2000s, Chile looked to LNG as the replacement. In October 2007, Suez (now Engie) and Codelco, Chile's state-run copper company, formed and took equal ownership of GNL Mejillones (GNLM), a company set up to develop a regas terminal in northern Chile.
