Report summary
During Q3, NextDecade’s Rio Grande Phase 1 became the third US Gulf Coast LNG project sanctioned in 2023. It joins Sempra Infrastructure’s Port Arthur Phase 1 and Venture Global’s Plaquemines Phase 2 projects. Total LNG capacity sanctioned this year exceeds 35 mmtpa, eclipsing the previous record of 33 mmtpa in 2019.
