Yemen's new federal republic
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
The Yemeni government has agreed to create a federal republic consisting of six semi-autonomous regions. The move comes after years of unrest and is intended to appease the many political factions by allowing a certain level of self-government to individual regions. The issues for oil and gas companies - mainly sabotage and disruption of operations - are much more localised and creation of a federation may do little to help in the short to medium term.
