Andrade iron ore mine
Report summary
Andrade is a surface mine owned and operated by ArcelorMittal located near the town of João Monlevade in Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Andrade supplies sinter feed to ArcelorMittal's João Monlevade integrated steel plant and is linked to the plant by an 11-kilometre dedicated railway. At the end of 2020, ArcelorMittal completed a project to extend Andrade's life and abide with stricter environmental guidelines and regulations for mining in Brazil. The so-called Projeto Itabirito encompassed the construction of filtration lines and a new beneficiation plant. With the commissioning of the project, we expect Andrade's output level to grow by almost 40% by 2025.
