While 2020 was the year everyone seems happy to see the back of, for battery raw materials the year surprised on the upside in many ways. EV sales, particularly in Europe and China, proved robust. OEMs and cell producers made further moves towards integrating their supply chains. Meanwhile, even lithium prices saw signs of life in the final weeks of the year. This year remains highly unpredictable – hinging as it does on the timely rollout of vaccinations that will allow some return to normality.
