Blotberget iron ore mine
Report summary
Blotberget is an underground mine in the Dalarna region in south central Sweden. The mine is owned by Nordic Iron Ore, a mining and exploration company formed in 2008. Nordic Iron Ore acquired Blotberget in 2008 and is seeking to restart the mine. First ore is now expected early 2023 with full production capacity of 3.2 Mtpa ROM and approximately 1.5 Mtpa of saleable concentrate. Blotberget plans to produce a 69% Fe concentrate and will supply European and Euroasian steel mills. Capital expenditure to develop the mine is estimated to be US$260 million which translates to a capital intensity of US$173 per tonne.
