Bulk steel alloys short-term outlook April 2022
Report summary
High costs and tight supply continue to keep bulk alloy prices supported in western markets, while in China renewed price support will come in the form of high ore and reductant costs. In ore markets, supply side constraints, including logistics bottlenecks in South Africa, may prolong the current understocking. The impacts of the Ukraine-Russia crisis, particularly to alloy production cost inputs, will be protracted but heavily skewed towards western markets.
