The United States’ Advanced Manufacturing Production Credit (AMPC) will allow producers of critical materials to claim a tax credit on production costs for a host of battery raw materials. With the final regulations expanded to include feedstock costs, the boost to companies' bottom lines has risen from 2% to 8% up to the targeted 10%. However, it is unlikely to incentivise new production of battery-grade chemicals, given its temporary nature and risks to its scope under incoming President Trump.
