Cobriza copper mine

Cobriza copper mine

Report summary

Cobriza operates an underground mine and a conventional 9.1kt/d concentrator. Since the beginning of the mine, the concentrator was operated at a rate quite below its capacity due to lack of mine ore. By 2014 the Peruvian government was looking for a re-privatisation of Cobriza and La Oroya Metallurgical complex. However, the lack of investors willing to invest in La Oroya is limiting this option. In 2015 the government put a date limit to privatise Doe Run Peru until August 2016.
