Colquiri zinc mine
Report summary
Colquiri operates a Zn-Sn underground mine and a concentrator of 1.3kt/d ore. The tin is recovered first by gravity separation, followed by zinc flotation. The Sn concentrate is transported to the local Vinto smelter, whilst the Zn concentrate is exported via the Antofagasta port. In April 2019 Colquiri signed a contract for US$77.0 million to build a new 2kt/d concentrator. The expansion was expected for mid 2022. After this expansion total capacity was expected to be 3.3kt/d ore.
