Durban Roodepoort Deep acquired the operation in October 1998. Khumo Bathong purchased a 60% share in February 2002, and the holding company was renamed Crown Gold Recoveries. Restructuring in 2005 under black economic empowerment (BEE) requirements saw a newly created vehicle, DRDGOLD SA, assume ownership of ERPM, Crown Consolidated and Blyvooruitzicht and subsequent transactions have left Khumo Bathong with a 20% interest in DRDGOLD SA and an additional 6% placed in an employee trust.
