El Cubo gold mine
Report summary
El Cubo comprises four underground deposits and exploration targets located in the state of Guanajuato, 280km north-west of Mexico City. The deposits are mined using a combination of cut-and-fill and long hole mining methods, feeding ore to a 1.5kt/d plant to produce silver-gold concentrates. Operations ceased in November 2019 as a result of depleted reserves. In April 2021, VanGold acquired the property from Endeavour Silver Corp and published a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) based on the El Cubo and El Pinguico complexes (El Pinguico is 5km southwest of the El Cubo property). Combined Mineral Resources are 2.2Mt at 2.48g/t gold and 195g/t silver with an estimated 7 years mine life. Production is estimated to re-commence in October 2021 following 6months of development.
