The Escobal mine exploited an intermediate-sulfidation epithermal quartz vein deposit through longhole stoping methods. Processing took place by conventional differential flotation methods that produce lead-silver and zinc concentrates. The processing plant had a maximum capacity of 4.5ktpd. As of 5 July 2017, the mining licence was temporarily suspended. On 3 September 2018, the Constitutional Court of Guatemala outlined a detailed three-stage consultation process to reinstate the mining licence. Following the suspension of the mining licence, the operation was placed under care and maintenance. This report examines the mine's production period between 2013 to 2017.
