Ewarton alumina refinery

Report summary

The refinery started production in 1959. Through successive de-bottlenecking programmes and expansions, capacity rose to 650ktpa of smelter grade alumina. Refinery ownership has changed hands from Alcan to Glencore and finally UC Rusal in 2007. The majority of Ewarton's output is supplied to UC Rusal's smelters.
