Report summary
Wood Mackenzie has always carried out economic analysis, but now, the combination of Wood Mackenzie tools can be used to investigate critical issues. Using our proprietary Zinc Smelter Cost Model and Metals and Mining Emissions Benchmarking Tool (EBT), we examine the cost and CO2 emissions implications of choosing a residue treatment method for recovering the remaining zinc units of leaching residues. In this report, we examine the impact of all these factors on electrolytic zinc smelters. A dataset has been used to investigate various residue treatment technologies concerning operational costs, energy usage, and capacity.
