Report summary
Over the past month, almost all prices in the bulk steel alloy markets have decreased to some extent. Having been highly elevated for some months, prices for high-grade manganese ore have crashed by over 30%. Though prices for chromium ore have retained their elevation, they have nevertheless inched downwards. Alloy prices have almost all moved down as well. Our guidance for steel-related demand remains lacklustre and has changed little over the past month. In contrast, demand guidance in certain future-facing applications has increased markedly. This refers especially to silicon metal demand in polysilicon and silicones, and also to ferrosilicon used in magnesium production.
