Report summary

July saw the first real downturn in graphite prices since H1 2021 as several months of increasing relief from supply chain disruption finally brought stability to the market enough to impact price. Supply has ramped up in China through Q2 following the re-opening of closed natural producers in Heilongjiang, while shipments to and from Chinese ports have been re-established following the rollback of Covid-19 restrictions. EV output continues to beat all previous records while the use of graphite in steel remains flat but of significant tonnage. A slight downwards readjustment in our global natural graphite supply forecast has resulted in a tighter market balance and slightly higher price forecasts to 2026.
