Following a Q1 of supply and shipment disruption in China, April and May have seen some stabilisation, with a plateauing of the price of many graphite products. Several natural flake producers that were previously closed due to environmental violations have begun to reopen and ramped up production during the last two months, relieving tightness in the flake market. Covid-19 restrictions have had a more significant effect on trade than on supply, with disruptions to shipments to and from Chinese ports. China’s imports from Mozambique declined by 84% in April following large quantities traded in March.
