The lead price finally showed some life and also highlighted the market sensitivity to both technical and fundamental factors. This was evidenced by a two-month price high, a two-year record backwardation and stocks falling further from historical lows. Smelter disruption now threatens to take over from mine production as the dominant supply-side constrain outside China, as potential bottlenecks become dependent on where the displaced primary feed is processed - China or the Rest of World?
