Commodity Market Report
Global nickel short-term outlook April 2022
Report summary
After last month's LME trading halt nickel prices settled at a higher level than expected. The outlook is one of accumulating surpluses so prices will fall. But will the decline be steady or triggered by a jolt that will rapidly send it back to pre-event levels? With trading activities on the LME not yet back to normal, risks come from the return of nickel to LME warehouses to rebuild stocks and the Covid-induced weakening of the Chinese economy.
