Commodity Market Report
Global nickel short-term outlook January 2022
Report summary
Nickel prices leap on longs and short covering triggered by Indonesian comments alluding to a tax on NPI exports and other nickel raw materials. At the same time LME stocks continued their decline with cancellations rising to more than half of what is left. With sentiment still bullish and demand remaining strong, even after factoring in the seasonally weak China, there is little to stop nickel prices going higher, until the second half of 2022.
