Commodity Market Report
Global nickel short-term outlook July 2019
Report summary
Nickel prices lit up in July, reaching their highest level for a year, largely due to speculation, which also helped to sustain the recent transfer of nickel stock to China. Physical demand in Asia also exerted some influence on prices. The challenges to Tsingshan Indonesia are starting to mount up now that India is considering anti-dumping duties against Indonesian stainless. Indeed the future of all stainless projects in Indonesia is becoming questionable.
