Commodity Market Report
Global nickel short-term outlook October 2021
Report summary
China's duel control policy on energy use continues to limit activities at China's stainless steel mills and NPI smelters. Output at both has fallen but the impact on the already tight nickel supply in China is supporting higher prices. Chinese scrap use is up while persistent comments from Indonesia about further restrictions to exports added to the price optimism. The risks ahead are on the upside.
