Global rare earths short-term outlook April 2022
Report summary
Prices for key rare earth products continued to fall back in April, linked to pressure from the Chinese government and covid-related lockdowns disrupting the downstream rare earth supply. Strong demand growth for permanent magnet raw materials persists, with greater support for wind energy capacity a key contributor. The border closure between Myanmar and China continues to disrupt feedstock availability in China, though in other countries development of rare earth projects and processing capacity is gathering pace.
