Report summary
News of significant mine production disruptions only provided a temporary respite for the zinc price this month. The news that Boliden is placing its Tara mine on care and maintenance saw the price shift higher but the combination of dollar strength, another raft of disappointing macro-economic data from China, and further weakness in Europe saw the price start to slide lower. Could news of force majeure being declared at Penasquito in late-June stall the slide?
