Divergence is the key theme of the graphite market in 2023. Spherical graphite (SPG) supply chain will move towards diversification as new SPG producers develop closer to commercial-scale production, prompted by geopolitical legislation in both North America and Europe. Industrial-grade flake prices will decline as demand struggles, although battery-grade flake sizes will move into a deficit and disconnect from the rest of the spectrum.
