The smelter at Hobart in Tasmania produces zinc using the roast, leach, electrowin technology. The leach residue is processed using the Para-Goethite process and the final residue sent for processing to the Port Pirie smelter in Australia. The capacity of the smelter is 280kt/a slab zinc and there are no plans to increase this.
