Hope Downs iron ore mine
Report summary
Hope Downs is a 50:50 joint venture between Rio Tinto and Hancock Prospecting. It consists of the Hope Downs 1 complex (comprising Hope Downs North, Hope Downs South, and Baby Hope deposits) and Hope Downs 4. The Hope Downs operations are located 30km to 75km north-west of the town of Newman in the PIlbara region of Western Australia. Hope Downs produces around 50Mt of iron ore each year which is blended into Rio Tinto's Pilbara Blend fines and lump products.
