Huaron zinc mine

Report summary

Huaron is a polymetallic underground operation which has been in production since 1972. The current (2016) milling capacity is 2.8kt/d ore. By July 2018 Huaron was planning to make a marginal expansion of the concentrator to get 1Mt/a of ore treatment. The plan is to add an additional tertiary crusher and invest US$0.7 million for this. Copper, lead and zinc concentrates are shipped through the Callao port, located 320km away by road. Sometimes, part of the zinc concentrate is sold to the Cajamarquilla smelter located in Lima.
