Iron ore project review 2024

In this insight, we have updated our list of active iron ore projects worldwide and provided an overview of their current status. Our dataset contains 154 projects with a potential production capacity of 1.3 Btpa and a 4.5% capital intensity increase from 2022. In "Yesterday's projects, today's mines", more information about the six latest concluded projects. The distribution between 'highly probable", "probable", and "possible" projects and the main themes in the "Advancing projects" section. The "Africa remains key" section clarifies Simandou, Nimba and the continent's other most relevant projects. The "India" section presents the latest regulatory facts connecting it to the country's principal players and challenges. With iron ore prices set to move south, the "Projects incentive prices" and "Capital costs" sections provide further direction as most of the 154 projects in this dataset will not develop into mines.
