Jharsuguda aluminium smelter
Report summary
Jharsuguda is located in Odisha, India. The smelter was commissioned with the purpose of phased expansion. The smelter originally consisted of two prebake lines across two halls with captive power supply. Phase one comprised 500ktpa of capacity. Phase 2 brought this up to 1100ktpa, adding a further two lines. A further proposed expansion to >1.6Mt/a will make Jharsuguda one of the world's largest smelters.
