Jinchuan's Nickel mine, Longshou was discovered more than 50 years ago and prompted the company being established in a small village located at the foot of the Longshou Mountain in the middle of the Hexi Corridor in northwest China. Jinchuan Nickel Mining Co (JNMC) has been China’s largest nickel producer ever since it was established in the early 1960s. It remains government-funded, and is therefore favoured when it needs to obtain credit for in-house plant expansion or for investment in facilities abroad. Despite the lack of good quality nickeliferous ore resources in China generally, JNMC is often quoted as having the world’s largest sulphide resource (although we understand that total resources currently amount to 388Mt grading 1.26% Ni).
