Alexco operated an underground mine and a 250t/d concentrator that used conventional crushing, grinding and differential flotation. Production was suspended at the end of August 2013. Bellekeno is part of the historic Keno Hill Silver district, the mines include Bellekeno, Lucky Queen and the Flame and Moth mine, among others. The December 2014 Preliminary Economic Assessment assumed upgrading the 250t/d milling facility to 430t/d by Q3 2015. The mill is to be fed by Bellekeno, Lucky Queen and Flame & Moth. Alexco announced in August 2016 that they were planning on releasing an updated PEA which will incorporate the revised mine plan and updated mineral resources. The new mine plan has not yet been released and therefore the accompanying analysis is still based on the 2014 PEA but the commencing of operations has been pushed back to 2017.
