Kidd Creek zinc smelter

The Kidd Creek zinc smelter was commissioned in 1972 with a capacity of 105kt/a cathode zinc to treat concentrate from the Kidd Creek mine. The Kiddmet site is shared with a 145kt/a copper smelter, commissioned in 1981. Noranda's ownership of Falconbridge slowly increased in the late 1990s/early 2000s, Noranda acting as selling agent for Kidd Creek's zinc and Norfalco for its sulphuric acid.
