Report summary
The Kisanfu (KFM) project is a large-scale copper and cobalt mine located 195km WNW of Lubumbashi in the Lualaba Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Acquired by CMOC Group from Freeport-McMoRan in 2020, the asset represents a significant copper-cobalt deposit. KFM achieved commercial production in 2023, increasing CMOC's total cobalt output. The asset operates as a conventional open-pit mine coupled with a SxEw facility, generating copper cathodes and crude cobalt hydroxide.
