Asset Report
Chuquicamata copper minesite
Report summary
After 100 years of continued operation, the key issue facing the Chuquicamata Division is that of replacing depleting open pit reserves. To replace these pit reserves, the Division has developed a 140 kt/d ore underground operation below the current pit. The ramp up of the underground project commenced in April 30th, 2019 (caving by 2020) and expected to reach full capacity by the end 2024. The accompanying analysis considers production of copper in concentrate at the nominal 175kt/d Chuquicamata mill (MINCO) and production from the oxide line.
