La Caridad copper minesite
Report summary
La Caridad operates a conventional open pit mine and a 94.5kt/d Cu-Mo concentrator. The latter was operated at near 100kt/d ore in 2017. Copper concentrates are sent to La Caridad smelter (1000kt/a concentrate) located at 27 km and the moly concentrate is sent to the Molymex plant located 40 km from the concentrator. Anodes from the smelter are treated in the 300kt/a copper refinery. Additionally this metallurgical complex operates a 150kt/a wire rod plant.
