Las Bambas copper mine
Report summary
Las Bambas is a large open pit copper mine approximately 75km south-southwest of Cusco and 300km north-northwest of Arequipa in the Cotabambas province, Apurimac region of Peru. The mine is 130 km northwest of the Tintaya copper mine. It operates a 140kt/d concentrator that was expected to produce around 300 to 400kt/a of copper in concentrate. This concentrator is located at an altitude of 4,200masl. The copper concentrate contains some gold and silver and is free of deleterious elements.
