Operated by AMG Critical Materials, Mibra is a tier-one lithium operation in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Originally opened in 1945 as a world-leading tantalum producer (with tin and niobium by-products), it transitioned to lithium in 2018. The site now utilizes tantalum tailings as feedstock for a recently expanded 130 ktpy spodumene plant and serves as the hub for a vertically integrated supply chain connecting Brazil to AMG’s European refineries. Wood Mackenzie’s asset reports are built from the bottom up, incorporating several granular data metrics to ultimately produce our industry-standard cash operating costs. This report contains a detailed asset note giving you a holistic view of the asset, including an operational overview through to a timeline of events from inception to now. This qualitative analysis is supplemented by the associated Excel download which enables interrogation of a whole series of cost and production metrics over the life of the asset.
