Report summary
The Lince deposit, located 600-800m above sea level, contained 16Mt oxide reserves grading 1.56% Cu when operations commenced in 1992. Original crushing capacity was 4.5kt/d to produce 20kt/a cathodes. In 1994 the plant was expanded to produce 48kt/a of cathode copper from mixed sulphide/oxide feed. Financing for the project was approved by the Chilean Central Bank under its Chapter 19 debt/equity swap provisions, enabling US$47.5M to be injected into the Lince partnership.
