East Tennessee Mines comprises of three operating mines; Coy, Inmel and Young. Nystar acquired the Middle and East-Tennessee Zinc mine complexes for US$15M and US$126M respectively in 2009 and restarted production in 2010. Concentrates from the operations are predominantly treated at Nystar's Clarksville smelter in north west Tennessee, and the combined production from the two operations when at capacity, East and Middle Tennessee, is more than capable of matching Clarksville's capacity. In December 2015, Nyrstar announced that they were placing its MTM on care and maintenance in order to reduce cash consumption. The mine restarted operation in December 2016, and first mill production was achieved in Q2 2017.
