Asset Report
Minorca iron ore mine
Report summary
Minorca is a surface mine owned and operated by Cleveland-Cliffs located in Minnesota's Mesabi Iron Range, near the town of Virginia. The operation produces fluxed and non-fluxed pellets which we've assumed are being sold into the open market to steelmakers in the US and Canada. In September 2020, Cleveland-Cliffs acquired almost all of ArcelorMittal USA's operations for approximately US$1.4 billion, including the Minorca operation. After a production decrease in 2022, we foresee a recovery in 2023 amid a good environment of US steel market.
